The powerful MAHMOUD HADID - A story that continues in modern Rhodes ...

There is a Rhodian proverb which says: "Anyone who drinks from rhodeswater, never forgets Rhodes" ....

The story therefore continues to be written today, with MAHMOOD HADID, grandson of the powerful Pasha of Nazareth, Daher El Omar, passes every year several months on the island and declare fanatic Rodian.

How to describe this personality ...

It is what we call - the genes are strong and they remain ... Because history has recorded, that  Pasha was the pioneer of Arab liberation, the man who believed in the development of an area, along with the stability of the socio-political conditions base, o eminently opponent of bandits of the roads, the leader who managed to make an agreement even with the pirates, the founder of modern Haifa ...

Pasha, died helping Christians because he  fought to create safe areas for citizens. A typical example- in order to establish the safety of the routes and the exemption from robbers, loaded with gold, diamonds and precious jewelry a young woman, ordering her, to cross walk many kilometers, where before, there were street thieves. The young, returned safe and without missing some jewelry, a sample of that, he has achieved what he wanted. And of course, the jewelery have been given to the woman and her family.

The family…

Mahmood Hadid, Khairiah and Anwar Hadid’s son. Born in the holy city for Christians, Nazareth. His father studied teacher at the Jerusalem College while attending Syria, academic, legal studies. He taught on behalf of the British Authorities English in college education in Palestine. In 1948, Anwar moved to Syria and joined the US Information Services system and the VOA (Voice Of America).

He lived in Damascus with his family in Tunisia and Greece and then moved to Washington. The life of Anwar in Rhodes, where he held a high position in the Voice of America, (VOA) in the decade from 1960 to 1970, was the first relationship for Mahmoud Hadid with Rhodes.

Kid of a large family, with seven ch;ildren - two brothers, Mohamed and Majid and five sisters, Raida Al Xasan, Maha Matar, Gada Harnden, Sana Hadid, Majida Hyatt.

His father, moved with his family - wife, grandmother and children - in Rhodes. Homeland Syria, Palestine refugee family, were expelled from the Holy City of Nazareth, home of Mary. In 18 months, they left Damascus for Beirut and when Mahmoud was only 3 years old, the family traveled to Tunisia with refugee documents. In 1969, when he was 15 years old, his father, Anwar Hadid, being employee of the US Government, was sent to the island of Rhodes, in a historical, strong company, where they worked and still remember many Rhodians: the Voice of America (VOA ).

Mahmoud Hadid, studied at the Institute Monte Rosa, in Montreux, Switzerland, from 1969 to 1971 and then at the College Pinewood International School in Thessaloniki. His contact with Greece was established, since the attraction was evident. His contact with Rhodes never stopped, as he passed the summers of passes on the beautiful island of the sun Apollo and indeed, in a private residence.

About 1970 he met the architect Nikos Kousvos. He was his first and he is his best friend. 46 years, is a very long time to feel, that your good friend, becomes your real brother...

In 1976 grandmother was died, who is buried in Kallithea. Her grave, has been discovered by the grandson  25 years ago and since then, visiting Rhodes non stop,  every year, where he remains for a long time. Before creating his home  in our country, he  lived at the Mediterranean hotel, with memories of his father there, since the decade 60-70 was the beach where they often visited. Later, he became his beach too. He has adorable relation with Aegean sea…

So there, in Mediterranean Hotel, years after, he met also his future friend, Mr. Diakoulas Apostolos, Director of Hotel Group Kambourakis. With the help of Mr. Diakoulas and actions at the Ministry of  Defence, he did what he wanted: acquired permanent residence in Rhodes. Precious friends along the way, was for him, the Rhodians entrepreneurs, John Klouvas and Michael Tachliampouris. Easily, he became friend with the people he has chosen to work on his investements. His Architect, Vasilis Diakomichalis, Anna Maria Diakomichai ( his atourney ) Fotis and Agapi Xatzhdiakou.  Other friends, are Diakoumichalis family, his partners in Greece Tziokas family,  the musicians who fill his heart with the sound of music. Also, Kabourakis family, the hotels owners.

Mahmoud’s  Hadid carier, started in 1979, during the time when wars raged in Iraq / Iran. In Rhodes he has returned 12 years later, in 1991, during the War of the Gulf in Kuwait. He  is representative in many countries, of pressing machines, which cleans refineries of "dregs" and other materials. After the Iraqi invasion in Kuwait, he  successfully undertook the cleaning of public buildings, because, by leaving the Iraqis set fire everywhere ... Services business located in Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar. The plane, is his second home, since the hours in the air, are endless .... Many, laboriously travel because of work and frequent changes in climatic conditions ...

Liberal spirit, with the DNA of  Pasha grandfather, deeply rooted in him. The "family heritage" of successful, but sensitive leader personality of many contrasts, far free from arrogance ...

The relationship with Christianity is huge, since the first Orthodox Church in Nazareth, Church of the Ascension was created by his family, Pasha grandfather. Also, the building was used as "wood - laboratory" Joseph owned by his family. As it is mentioned historically, before descending in those regions Mongols and force them to convert to Islam, the inhabitants were Christians. His family never forgot its roots ... Mahmoud knows the Bible so well, as  few Fathers of the Church.

He lived the refugees since childhood, the trapped life, which could balance on a thin thread (we Greeks know well, living in exile in Asia, but also experiencing the tragedy of the present situation of countless refugees who are swallowed by the sea or lost in inaccessible mountains) swore himself to be tired, but to succeed in life. And not only love a home - country, but many of them, who were touching his calm strength. To erase the borders of the planet. Sohe  loved Rhodes, watered by rhodeswater, he locked Rhodes  in his heart, made her his own, vowed to come again and again over the last 46 years and do whatever he can to help and create on his favorite place, made it, life destination ...

It has contributed greatly in making the dream of many Rhodians - private and business - close friends.  known hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, and living expenses of persons concerned for the winter months were based on it. Because admittedly, this is a man - a constant basis. He keeps his word to the utmost, and he respects, anyone who does the same.

He  makes an important social project, which is unknown to the public of Rhodes, considering that, wherever  there are people happier, the places are more beautiful. The Orphanage of Rhodes, is his  loved and protected space. Rejoice whenever he finds that the eyes of these children acquire luster with gestures, so he  greatly contributed, in clothing, footwear, and other needs, wherever and whenever required. Even to manage young people to attend University and  make reality what they choose.

Hypersensitivity? Childhood experiences? Betting life? Possibly ...

Highly versatile, with intense tenacity for success, powerful businessman, charismatic, man of contrasts, chooses his friends carefully, giving to the word "friendship" the obvious stuff.

Difficult personality with business people but  simple  with everyday people whom he chooses for his company. The man who knows how to live and utilize every moment of his life. To transform the endless hours that someone else probably spends meaningless, in real working and creative hours. It has a unique ability to 'catch α stone and make gold "as says our “thymosofos” people.

 Social media, which unfolds a part of his life, we can see him, on the one hand, with overalls to clean even the streets around the block of the house and then, on the other,  in the more secular international receptions in the most sophisticated lounges, with government, leaders of foreign countries, VIP and general personalities of international jet set.

Versatility; Ability; Intelligence? Possibly ...

In his work, as if drawing motivation from the vision, the outcome dreaming ... And the creation starts ... After all, entrepreneurship is a marathon which requires the last vitality of strength.

Guided by its own ideals, but remains realistic optimist, not easily carried away by success, rely on their own forces and continues to look to the future as a time period of euphoria.

Obviously, he has acquired skills after hard work and indulges in exhortations and industrial challenges he is driven instinctively. Shall, prevents, organizes, plans, with hard work. The secret must lie somewhere in the focus on his target.

Master at capturing data, by observing differently, with his own way.

Excess; Possibly... But the innovation and diversity exists in overcoming...

He has  no doubt about, that at the end he will succeed, since hunts and controls what he wants, taking care to complete his  objectives. Usually aimed at things that others do not dare. Strong motivation, hard and continuous work for future success, combined with the joy of life. The mediocrity, doesn’t  suits to him.

He doesn’t hold himself  against a prospect that excites him. He is a fan of "at the end, everything will be fine, because if it doesn’t happen, the end hasn’t come yet" ...

Optimism? Possibly .... But to taste the nectar of boldness, over –enthousiasm is prerequisite...

He makes friends easily and keep them "for life". The secret is in the correct attitude towards them and patience for the people. Only with himself is impatient and only from him he has requirements.

Sometimes democratic, looking for fellow to the vision and sometimes domineering, pulls and drives away from beside him, all those who perpetuate the problem without being effective in the solution.

A mind always alert, seeks to learn at least a useful daily information and simultaneously to deal with a lot of things. His feet tread firmly on the ground, but his head is flying in the clouds ...

Idealism; Possibly ... But in order to attain the greater general good, you have to be an idealist ...

Nevertheless, this mental radar is in continuous operation and thinks  about the desires of people around him. He likes to be surrounded by authentic, simple and outspoken characters.

He is charismatic to unite people, an interconnect link, he is a reference spot for them,  he gives examples and motivating for changing  and tries to find similarities in different characters, turning the defects in virtues.

And of course….

Behind a strong man, always is hidden a strong woman ... And her name, is Alia Al Sawaf ...

Except the fact that she  is a very sweet person, she represents the personalization of the "quiet power". Intelligent and cultivated, she is a very  interesting person, with extremely creative hobbies. Her constructions,  with materials of the same nature that she loves, are  amazing. Pure inspiration!

 She is always herself, and only herself. Without arrogance and always affordable and simple. Hospitality is he best hoby. Open door in their home for friends, and always a full of tastes table – she is a n excellent cooker -   and an open hurt for them. And for her Mahmoud, Alia, is the perfect wife!

 She  has her  own elements, her own qualities, she  has plenty of space in her mind and heart for her husband, proving every time that she puts him on the highest level in her life. On the most top spot.

 The spontaneity and the innocent of  her behavior , helps to penetrate the hearts of the friends, of whom she  receives maximum consideration.

Angry; She is never! Probably this word is missing from her own vocabulary.

Dispassionate? Always! By logic, she faces every moment of her life and she  is satisfied with simple and everyday things, because she knows through her environment, how she is confirmed. Low profile, kind and generous, with serious features of altruism and selflessness, the same dative, as Mahmoud Hadid is. She is after all, the true Princesses ...

Condescending, without tantrums and obsessions, flexible thinking and understanding, seems to fit to her husband’s  "wants" to whom she shows immense dedication.

Of course she could,  she can afford – not to be  concerned with anything but the comfort and the relaxation. Nevertheless, she occupies with her home,  with good cooking,, and  making her life partner to feel special and unique and leave her self  to be guided by him, humbly and quietly. And this is something he has expressed many times and in various ways. In did, he is guiding by her too. By her kindness, her calmness, her nice character.

For Alia, the attractiveness of a woman lies in her simplicity, her seriousness and her  cultivation of personality ... And all those, attracted Mahmoud Hadid, this  strong man, in order to choose her, as the person of his life…

Mahmoud Hadid, was recently honored by the City of Rhodes and in particular by the Mayor Fotis Hatzidiakos, of course, not only as a repeater  on the island, but for the love he shows for this place, for the investments he has made and he continues to make for his true desire to stay here for several months every year. For his contribution, to help as many Rodians as he can, to give joy and relief around him generously ...
